Groups 1 and 4 have been reading a fiction story, but have been finding which parts could actually be true.
Groups 2 and 3 have been been working on Unit 6 and have been reading a different narrative story.
Each group has been working on corresponding vocabulary.
Week of January 8-12:
This week we have been working on finishing our middle of the year testing. It has been a very long process, but they have been working very well. We have also been working on our cursive letters by learning letters u, y, and i.
Week of November 27-December 1:
Group 1 and 4 read an expository text on raisins and we learned about how they are made.
Group 2 and 3 finished their current unit on reading a short chapter book, and now are starting a new unit on learning about insect facts.
All groups learned about fragment sentences and how to change those into true sentences.
Week of November 13-17:
Group 1 and 4 read an expository text on bird nests and we learned some new facts about them.
Group 2 & 3 have been reading an Arthur chapter book.
The whole class learned about story retell and we did a hand print activity with that. We learned cursive letter “l” this week.
Week of October 30-November 3:
Groups 2 & 3: We finished up our unit and have been working on fluency assessments.
Groups 1 & 4: We read a story about how to problem solve.
Everyone: We have been putting a special emphasis on our writing conventions and part of speech.
Week of October 2-6:
Groups 1 and 4 read a realistic story called “My Rows and Piles of Coins”. We worked on the corresponding vocabulary terms.
Groups 2 and 3 learned about immigrants and corresponding vocabulary terms.
Everyone learned cursive letter ‘g’ and working on identifying antonyms. We also learned what the theme of a story is when writing.
Week of September 25-29:
This week each group worked on their reading fluency and associated vocabulary words. We learned a new letter in cursive, “d”. We also have been working on our writing conventions and how to become better writers. Please practice your spelling words.
Week of September 18-22:
Groups 1 and 4: Students read a tall tale and work on corresponding vocabulary words.
Groups 2 and 3: Students have been working on the “aw” sound. They have also been working on identifying the main idea of a story.
All students have been working on synonyms and verbs. We also had our first OT Motor Group this week.
Week of September 11-15:
Groups 1 & 4: We read a fable “What About Me?”. We worked on sequencing and retelling stories.
Groups 2 & 3: We finished our unit. We were working on multi-syllabic words and the corresponding vocabulary for the unit.
Everyone was working on plural words.
Week of August 28-September 1:
This week we worked on some more assessments.
We also learned about synonyms and antonyms.
We will be having our first spelling test next week.
